It enhances the candidate's soft skills and aids with the development of their communication abilities so that they can comprehend each student's unique needs and provide appropriate guidance. With this degree in-hand, one can be qualified to be a teacher in multiple levels of schools. Moreover, it helps applicants to legitimise their interest in education.
Syllabus
It broadly consists of three sections:
- Perspectives in Education
- Curriculum and Pedagogic Studies
- Engagement with the Field.
Some topics included in the course are Childhood, Adolescence, Self-Determination, Contemporary Education in India. It also includes an Internship in the field.
Eligibility

There are no restrictions as to the stream chosen in higher secondary school, i.e., Math, Physics, Chemistry and Biology are not requirements.
However, in case of specialised courses like B.Ed. Physics, B.Ed. Maths,
B.Ed. Commerce, etc., a graduation in the respective field is a requirement.
For other cases, the general eligibility criteria are:
- Secured more than 50% marks in the final graduation exam. (5% relaxation for reserved categories, but varies in different state)
- Some colleges have an age limit.
